In the Gallery of Arts on Prechistenka 19, the opening of the exhibition of works by Andrey Remnev "Arrow" will take place.
Andrei Remnev was born in 1962 in the town of Yakhroma near Moscow. In 1979 he entered the Moscow Art College in memory of 1905. 1986 became a student at the Moscow State Art Institute. V. Surikova, where he studied in the workshop of K. Tutevol and E. Maximov. In 1996, he studied icon painting under the guidance of the icon painter Fr. Vyacheslav (Savinykh) in the Moscow Spaso-Andronnikov Monastery, where he copied the best examples of Old Russian painting of the XV - XVII centuries. According to the artist himself, it was during this period that his own painting technique finally developed, which is based on a combination of the techniques of ancient Russian icon painting, 18th-century Russian painting, compositional finds of the “World of Art” and Russian constructivism. Like artists of the past, Remnev uses natural pigments worn on the yolk.
Andrey Remnev works in the traditional technique of multi-layer painting and combines the techniques of both European and Eastern art. In his paintings, deep space is combined with powerful decorativeness, a tense composition with subtle modeling of the form, and pure color relationships with restrained color.
The painting "Arrow", which gave the name to the exhibition, is indicative of Remnev’s artistic language. A complex image that is born at the junction of the image and the name is filled with ambiguous concepts: a clock hand (measured rhythm of time), a piece of land covered by water from two sides, unblown flowers (the beginning of the day, spring, the birth of a new life), a meeting place for an important conversation - everything is present in the content-subtext information of the canvas.
Moreover, Andrei Remnev does not limit himself to the world of painting, but draws energy from the art that is happening now. Direct observation of the ballet rehearsals at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater and at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow gave impetus to the creation of a series of works devoted to dance. And the sketches made at the rehearsals of the Diaghilev Festival were included in the booklet issued by the theater for the premiere of ballets.
Picturesque images of Andrei Remnev have repeatedly become a source of inspiration for high-fashion designers. In particular, the fall-winter 2015 collection of the Spanish fashion house “Delposo” was inspired by Remnev’s work, and the spring-summer 2018 collection of the Italian fashion house “Vivetta” was created in collaboration with the artist.
The exhibition will feature about 60 paintings. Several works are exhibited for the first time, as they are constantly in private collections.
