In the gallery "Nagornaya" of the Association "Exhibition Halls of Moscow" with the support of the Surgut Art Museum, the Center for Arts and Crafts of Khanty-Mansiysk, MGHPA named after S. G. Stroganov, the Department of Art of Moscow State University and the Moscow House of Nationalities opens the exhibition "Following the Golden Horseman. Territory of Ugra ”, the purpose of which is to introduce viewers to the unique culture of the north of Russia.
The exhibition is dedicated to archeology and mythology that underlie the northern fine traditions. The starting point is the mythology of the indigenous peoples of the north (including the Khanty and Mansi) brought by the golden horsemen of ancient Ugra - the Scythians.
The exposition is presented in two parts. The first is a photo project of the Surgut Art Museum "The Myth of Myth", presented by 45 works by photographers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and Surgut. The concept of the photo project harmoniously combines the ancient artifacts found on the territory of Ugra, and the modern art of photography and design, the mythology of the indigenous peoples of Ugra and its modern interpretation. In 2017, the project was presented as part of the III International Congress of Traditional Artistic Culture, held under the auspices of the Russian Federation and UNESCO in Khanty-Mansiysk.
The second part of the exhibition consists of 17 dolls in national costumes of the Yugra Territory (Russian, Khanty, Mansi), made by masters of the Center for Arts and Crafts of the Khanty-Mansiysk. The collection reveals a symbolic unity in the diversity of national images.
Within the event program of the exhibition, a round table, master classes, quest, as well as curator tours are planned.
The participants in the project photo are Svetlana Kruglova, Tatyana Shvetsova-Yaperova, Alexey Skripin, Anna Lyubimova, Vladimir Dubrovsky, Evgeny Bashty, Polina Petrenko.
