The exposition dedicated to the 76th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War is made up of the best propaganda posters from the collection of the Irkutsk Art Museum and is designed to reflect the selfless work of artists in wartime.
"Windows TASS" (Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union) - a series of propaganda posters issued to raise the morale of the Red Army and the civilian population of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. In September 1941, the workshop "Windows TASS" was organized in Irkutsk. It was headed by David Shterenberg, a painter, graphic artist and theater designer evacuated from the capital. The posters were created in the most difficult conditions, in the absence of the necessary materials, in uncomfortable cold rooms, while the artists worked in several shifts. Irkutsk poets also joined the fighting group of fine art masters, complementing vivid images with biting verses. The posters were placed on special stands of the central Irkutsk streets, and were also manually replicated and distributed to factories and enterprises, where everyone who was not at the front worked for victory. During the four years of the workshop’s work, about 800 original posters were created, distributed with a circulation of more than 23 thousand copies.
The exhibition “Victory Poster. 80 years of the Irkutsk Workshop of TASS Windows "presents a part of a large collection of agitokons created by leading Irkutsk artists of that time: Vladimir Tomilovsky, Nikolai Shabalin, Alexandra Madisson, Stepan Razvozzhaev, Maria Granavtseva, Anvar Zakirov, Alexander Rudenko, etc. The exhibition is complemented by picturesque portraits of authors from the collection Irkutsk Art Museum.
The exposition will be open at the Gallery of Siberian Art (Karl Marx St., 23) until May 30. Phone for inquiries and booking excursions: 33-43-89. The museum has a mask mode.
