Evgenia Buravleva and Egor Plotnikov are students of the workshop of the legendary Pavel Nikonov (Surikov Institute). In the works presented at the exhibition in the Museum of Erart, the authors express a moral attitude towards nature, which is endowed with spirit and consciousness.
The landscapes of Evgenia Buravleva are thoughtful and melancholy. Representing nature, the artist seems to be writing her self-portrait: landscapes are consonant with her inner state. In part of the landscapes, she added the figure of an outsider - a modern contemplator who, instead of enjoying peace, only takes what she sees on the smartphone’s camera.
The artist found her own method of creating an internal glow of paints on canvas, thanks to which the details dissolve and it begins to seem that space and time become special - unearthly, unidentified.
Yegor Plotnikov offers the viewer a different look at space: he deliberately stops his gaze at his most trivial point - this is what we see several times a day. Concluding everyday life on canvas, the author reflects on the value of daily existence, which, in fact, is life.
Egor Plotnik also tries to change the idea of the picture as a planar image. He began his creative search in this area with white reliefs, and entered the figure of a person in their space. So he got a conditional white sculpture, which seemed to strive to become part of the image. Plotnikov makes the observer, who first appeared in the landscape of Caspar David Friedrich and turned into a contemplator with a telephone at Buravleva, voluminous. This technique expands the space - so the artist allows us to look differently at the boundaries of the picture plane.
