An exhibition of one painting by M.A. Vrubel "Allegory of Philosophy" Automatic translate
In 2015, the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts continues its already traditional museum project "Artistic Chronograph". As part of this project, from January 29, 2015, an exhibition of one painting by M.A. Vrubel "Allegory of Philosophy".
Mikhail Alexandrovich Vrubel (1856-1910) - one of the most significant and mysterious Russian artists of the turn of the XIX — XX centuries. Great craftsmanship and a unique gift, allowed the artist to create works of art of the highest level in almost all types and genres of fine art: painting, graphic art, decorative sculpture and theatrical art. M. Vrubel living in his own world of images embodied them in his work, becoming the most important landmark of Russian culture and an artist of all time.
The collection of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts contains the only small work of M. Vrubel “Philosophy (Allegory of Philosophy)”, dated to the end of September 1899.
The work on display is a sketch for the work performed by M. Vrubel on the order of A.M. Morozova panel "Philosophy", now stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery.
Despite the small size of this picturesque sketch, its historical and artistic value is, of course, enormous - it allows you to visually see the course of Vrubel’s artistic thought, the search for his free brush. It is also important that a sketch arose at the time of the maturity of Vrubel’s art, in the era of his creation of his best paintings, such as Pan.
The picturesque system of work is whole, energetic and expressive, but at the same time extremely intimate. Through allegory, artistic allegory, M. Vrubel portrays - philosophy. “Love of wisdom” appears before the viewer in the form of a figure of a young woman with an owl sitting on her hand as a symbol of this wisdom. Sketchy sketches, generalized outlines give the image of a bat, a scroll and the setting sun in the background.
The theme chosen by the artist is also an allegory of philosophy. It is known that M. Vrubel himself was inclined all his life to deep philosophical reflections - about the “consciousness of the infinite,” about the “consciousness of life.” And most importantly - all his art is philosophical through and through, permeated with thoughts about life, about death, about the infinity of being.
The exhibition will run from January 29 to March 29, 2015.
