“The project is completely dedicated to the portrait, and from the portrait we always expect recognition of the character and portrait similarity, but in the portraits of Maxim Borodich we see the architecture of the face, the construction of the human image, in which the architect himself is strongly reflected. It is interesting that each portrait performed by Borodich is based on real personalities and is painted almost from nature. A special approach to the image refers to both cubist experiences and the experience of primitive art. Here we see both masks and faces. All the people whom the author portrays are, with rare exceptions, friends, associates, and comrades of the artist. There are no abstract faces, faces just to portray the human likeness as an image - we have concrete people. This phenomenon is interesting because it is possible to read a complex attitude to each person in the language of the author. Color and plastic dictate a certain canvas for understanding the project. The project is called “Facades” because we see the facade of a person and also clearly see the language of the author - the architect of the faces. Face recognition systems, which are now widely used in public public places, are able to recognize specific faces from the crowd and merge this information with the “big brother”. On Facebook, the program itself determines by the photo of the people present on it and will forgive putting a tag. However, the program does not even perceive Maxim’s portraits as faces in the general meaning of this concept; the author deconstructed and rebuilt the face in such a way that it takes on a different dimension. I recognize people, look at them and see their character, but the motive for communicating with a real person is haunting, how similar is the portrayed character to a work of an artist. The analysis of deconstruction and transformation is what is of interest in this plastic, so at the exhibition you can see photos of models, ordinary photos from life - at this moment the mechanism of the exhibition begins to come to life. The facade architect manages the faces as a city planner, picks up one facade to another in order to build a harmonious series. The meaning of this collection: seeing the whole series of portraits, we delve into the logic of the image and begin to understand the artist who painstakingly and step-by-step looks up the faces of friends in lines of spots and dots. "Maxim Borodich is not a quick explosive artist, but an exact creator, and his face-facades stand on a solid foundation."
