The Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the Russian Academy of Arts present Lika Tsereteli’s exhibition “Intuitive Topography” - the third personal project of the artist, dedicated to the author’s anniversary. Penetrated by light and bright colors, the exhibition primarily reflects the emotions and feelings of the author himself. When creating works, Lika Tsereteli draws inspiration from her sense of beauty, love for working with fragile materials, aesthetics of ornaments and patterns, as well as her desire to create beautiful things that I would like to surround myself with in ordinary life. “The ornament goes beyond me. I cannot think of anything on purpose, there are only some impulses from impressions, ”describes his way of working on the works of Lika Tsereteli. And he explains the predominance of glass in the exhibition space: “Why does glass attract me so much? As a child, I watched my dad draw stained glass for hours, and then we looked at them ready. Such magical light came through them. ”
The exposition at MMOMA, created by Alexei Tregubov, outlines the features of glass prevailing at the exhibition as a material that refracts light and can visually change the scale and shape of objects. On the ground floor, ornamental miniatures in black and white and in bright colors will be shown surrounded by murals created based on the original works of the artist. A separate room will be given under the screens of glass and wood, at the same time reminiscent of modern decorative and applied works using the patchwork technique and ancient stained glass compositions.
The second floor will demonstrate a series of glass vases and caskets that the artist uses as a canvas and turns with acrylic paints and varnish into bright, picturesque objects with patterns of smooth lines flowing into each other, abstract shapes and complex color combinations. Each exposition hall is dedicated to a certain series and will become a kind of small gallery, where the emphasis on objects is placed using light, tonal and special architectural structures.
