Exhibition “Vocabulary of the Industrial Landscape. Overcoming stereotypes ”will present the industrial history of the Ural region and Russia through works of art, periodicals and documents. The industrial landscape is a special artistic language for comprehending global industrial processes, the total superiority of man over nature, a reflection of the scope of construction projects and the greatness of national labor, the ideology of the industrial center. At the same time - this is the history of Perm throughout the entire twentieth century. The PHCH collection has a significant collection of paintings and graphics (from the 1920s to the 1980s) that visualizes this feature of regional history - the industrial landscape. At the exhibition, it will be possible to see the industrial landscapes of Alexander Repin, Ivan Borisov, Viktor Kuzin, Anatoly Tumbasov, Konstantin Sobakin and other remarkable artists.

The regional universal library will present periodicals, collections of documents and other information materials at the exhibition, which are also part of the cultural experience of industrial history. They document the time of landmark changes, the processes of materialization of ideology in social institutions, technologies and social groups.

Works of Perm artists from the collection of the Perm Regional Museum and private collections will also be digitally displayed.

An educational program for schoolchildren and students is planned as part of the exhibition. The participation of art historians and cultural scientists, artists, sociologists and historians will allow us to present different perspectives on the industrial history of the country and the Urals region, to identify and describe its specific components presented in industrial artistic images and visual information markers.

The curator of the exhibition is Igor Martynov, Ph.D. in art criticism, head of the Western European art sector at the Perm State Art Museum.
