On February 4, the Moskvarium hosted the grand opening of the Kamchatka: Your Incredible Adventure exhibition, which will be held on the 2nd floor of the Aquarium until March 10, 2022. The exposition is designed to show the delightful world of the unique nature of the Kamchatka Peninsula, which has been falling in love with everyone who is lucky enough to meet it for several centuries.
Rocks, geysers and volcanoes, like guests from ancient times, look at us from 3D photographs. Thanks to modern technologies, the impression of a real “live” journey is created - without tiring flights and changing time zones. The flora and fauna, the natural park "Volcanoes of Kamchatka", the Kronotsky Nature Reserve and the South Kamchatka Reserve appear before the admiring guests in all their original grandeur.
The exhibition is divided into three semantic parts. The Big and Vulnerable exhibition tells visitors about the wonderful world of marine animals of the peninsula through photographs. "Reserved nature of Kamchatka" is a collection of 3D images that reveals to us the free and pure nature of Kamchatka as a source of ancient primordial wisdom. The Beringia exposition, in addition to the landscapes striking in their beauty, will allow you to feel the atmosphere of the dog sled race, without which the portrait of Kamchatka would be incomplete. And, of course, unique pictures of wild animals that have long become symbols of Kamchatka - reindeer, wild salmon, brown bears and foxes.
At the grand opening, Irina Yarovaya, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, representative of the Kamchatka Territory in the State Duma, addressed the guests of the exhibition:
“The uniqueness of the exhibition lies in the fact that it only lifts the veil of the secrets of Kamchatka, forms an interest in what you can see, experience and feel when you come to our native land. I wish that everyone has the opportunity to meet and fall in love with the Kamchatka Territory!”
At the opening of the exhibition, there was also a meeting with environmental educator, photographer, blogger, creator of the Bryansk Forest reserve Igor Shpilenok. Igor Petrovich shared his most vivid memories and impressions associated with the Kamchatka Territory, as well as the stories of creating his most famous photographs.
“In Kamchatka, all the brightest and most significant things that happened in my life happened to me. Nowhere have my legs buckled so often in admiration for beauty. There you can meet wild animals that do not run away at the sight of you, but continue to live their normal lives. Once I was sneaking up on a reindeer, making my way to him through the tall grass, and did not notice how I stepped on a sleeping bear! It is not known who was more frightened,” said Igor Shpilenok.
At the end of the meeting, the guests were shown a documentary film “Bears of Kamchatka. Beginning of life". The tape, filmed with the participation of Igor Shpilenok, became the winner of two dozen film festivals both in Russia and abroad.
The exhibition will run until March 5th. On Saturdays, guests will enjoy exciting master classes, quizzes, film screenings and lectures dedicated to Kamchatka.
Every Saturday, visitors to the exhibition are waiting for educational programs about Kamchatka! Lectures, cinema, a quiz with Kamchatka souvenirs, master classes.
The project is being implemented with the support of ANO "Kamchatka Exhibition and Tourist Center", the Ministry of Tourism of the Kamchatka Territory, the Center for Oceanography and Marine Biology "Moskvarium" and FGBUK GMVTS "ROSIZO", Kronotsky State Reserve.
