September 25, 2015 at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, within the framework of the 6th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, the exhibition "Intervention" opens. The project arose from the desire not only to see a permanent exhibition in the museum, but, possibly, to update, introduce a new, current, relevant, without destroying the existing one, created in the process of long work.
The idea of introducing objects of modern art into the exposition of classical museums is not new. However, the theme of "Intervention" arose contextually, especially for the Museum of Decorative Arts. Objects made by artists specifically for this exhibition penetrate directly into thematic rooms, the exposition of which remains almost unchanged. The artist Tatyana Badanina lets white light into the museum space and is fresh with the installation “Stairway to Heaven”.
Light columns of Alena Ivanova - Johanson, reminiscent of the futuristic cities of Jacob Chernikhov, penetrate the corridors of the museum or climb the stairs. The stylistic techniques employed by the artist Mila Dolman in the installation “Brick Horse” go back mainly to folk art - the author, in particular, refers to the Dymkovo, Kargopol, Filimonovo toy, as well as the art of pop art, minimal art, Italian art-believer and the so-called "Russian poor." Through the “QR code” of Vladimir Nasedkin, carved on the edges of the ceramic plates with which the window is sheathed, it will be possible to view the exhibit in the window itself. And with a small QR code you can read information about the museum, about the hall where the exhibit is located, about the exhibit and about the artist - the author of the installation.
Almost all objects are made in material and technologies that correspond to the themes of the halls of the museum of decorative and applied arts: ceramics, textiles, wood, stone, metal. Modern artists continue to work with traditional materials, introducing new meanings into the works, which gives amazing results.
The viewer who comes to the museum receives a movement map for the exposure. Through the interaction of modern objects and museum exhibits, the visitor can see the continuity, evolutionary development of art, and feels the time in which it is located. In the search for a particular object, he sees those around him, draws attention to the interaction of the museum and the introduced. There is a new space, a new meaning.
