The themes of the exhibition were female harmony and natural beauty.
From September 25 to November 22, 2019 in the Gallery of Classical Photography there will be a multimedia exhibition “Uniqueness” by photo artist Anna Matveeva. The exhibition will feature 54 photographic works and art videos that reveal feminine harmony and unique beauty.
Anna Matveeva will present a series of photographs of naked women, where through the camera lens and film she expresses her own view on overcoming the natural complexes and fears that many of them face.
All the heroines of the project are women, real and sincere, held in their vocation, whether it be work, children, family or creativity. They are all over thirty years old and each has self-confidence, a desire for excellence, acceptance of the real in real life, as well as strength and desire to change something.
In her works, Anna reflects femininity and sexuality along with motherhood and external humility, and also emphasizes love and respect for oneself, at any age, regardless of appearance, well-being and the rules dictated by fashion, social networks and society.
“To overcome my complexes and fears, it turned out I needed to take a camera in my hands and look at the women of my age and older who surround me. They are all different - with their own merits and their own personality, with their own problems and difficulties, which are expressed not only in business, family, work, but also in the body. And I invited the women to undress. What made me look at myself differently, let go of myself, set new goals, in other words, to understand and work out the problem of exposing a woman to the world. The result was - openness and honesty, overcoming the fear of the camera, in front of me and myself, and at the same time - my fear of them naked and trusting me, made me look at life differently. This is self-awareness through other women, ”Anna Matveeva comments on the relevance of the chosen topic.
All heroines are purposely shown without faces. Thus, the author does not focus on the expression of eyes, smile, facial expressions. Photographs convey the state through the body - full exposure, exposure and exposure.
The artist’s task is to make the viewer look at himself from the side through the prism of photographs, look inside himself, see his reflection and look at him with a fresh look. The author calls for stopping thinking about imposed standards, comparing yourself with others and accepting your uniqueness and beauty.
To enhance the effect and convey the artistic style, a series of photos is printed on a positive transparent film, which allows you to completely immerse yourself in them, and gives great opportunities for playing with light in the presentation of works. Using double glass, background and light creates a three-dimensional effect.
A number of photos are executed in the form of light boxes, where the light comes from the inside, creating the opposite effect from the first method. Part of the work is printed on Hahnemuehle archival paper and framed in glass.
