The large-scale exhibition "Children’s World (Museum of the History of the Russian) postcards" takes place in the Central House of Artists on Krymsky Val. It presents more than 11 thousand postcards from private collections.
The exhibits illustrate the history of Russia expressed in postcards from the end of the 19th century to the present. Visitors to the exhibition will get acquainted with Russian holidays embodied in postcard images, customs, proverbs and sayings, fairy-tale and real characters from different historical eras, as well as an exciting journey into space.
The exhibition has a unique exhibition with more than 800 works by I.K. Aivazovsky printed on postcards. The project is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the great artist.
Visitors will be able to discover the whole diversity of I.K. Aivazovsky’s work and see sea and city landscapes, views of the Crimea and many other subjects, so beloved by the artist-marinist. Thanks to postcards, the works of the unsurpassed master at one time could get to know millions of people not only throughout Russia, but also in the most remote corners of the world.
The authors of the project are the All-Russian Public Organization of Collectors and Postcard Lovers “Union of Philokartists of Russia”, Krepostnov Publishing House and the Central House of Artists on Krymsky Val. Among the organizers is also the Moscow branch of the Russian Post, which gives visitors an exceptional chance to see the exhibits of the Postal Service Museum and the Moscow Post Office from its organization to the present day.
The authors are confident that in our time, a postcard is able to give bright, sincere and joyful emotions that cannot be transmitted through electronic mail. At the exhibition it will be possible to create your own card and immediately send it to yourself, dear and close people, your beloved fairy-tale character or an unfamiliar child - as part of the Life Line Charity Fund for the Saving of seriously ill children. The program also includes lectures, postcard master classes, game events and concerts.
The exhibition runs until September 6, 2016.
