April 23 at 19:00 in the gallery "Peresvetov Lane" in the framework of the program "Paper Only" exhibition of Denis Salautin’s "My New Drawings" opens.
The exhibition will feature 30 graphic works by the artist, which are combined by the time of creation, this is the last year, and by a technical technique. Denis Salautin resorts to a visual experiment and considers the drawing as a method of saving and optimizing expressive means.
Denis Salautin is a Moscow artist. He graduated from the art school in memory of 1905. Refers to the psychedelic circle of Moscow conceptualism of the "third wave". Member of the Fenso Group. The group was created in 1993 and was inspired by the conceptual ideas of "Collective Action", "Medical Hermeneutics." Since 1997, Denis Salautin has been working together with Dmitry Fayn.
Valery Ledenyov: “The surreal, psychedelic entities portrayed by Salautin range from vaguely familiar to deliberately fantastic and“ alien ”. Their artistic prototypes and the paradigms that gave rise to them are often not hidden by the artist. And the slide between the layers of cultural consciousness - from folklore and historical reminiscences to pure, almost pathological objectivity - is carried out with enviable simplicity. "
“Paper Only” is a joint project of the Peresvet Lane Gallery and XL PROJECTS. The program is not limited to works created exclusively on this “medium”. “Paper” here is a word that traditionally gives rise to an association with drawing, drawing. And the main emphasis on the drawing of contemporary artists.
We decided not to adhere to the chronological principle, focusing on the works that are being created "here and now." Indeed, the classic art in process is more honest, interesting, flexible, able to keep the viewer in suspense; and we hope that this program will give the necessary impetus to the study and understanding of Russian drawing in professional circles and will be interesting to the viewer, partly restoring the lost tradition of regular exhibitions of graphic artists that existed in Soviet times.
The project is designed for several years. This year, drawings of artists of different generations will be presented: Nikita Alekseev, Denis Salautin, Boris Matrosov, Svetlana Shuvaeva and Ilya Dolgov.
It is no coincidence that these exhibitions are held in the Peresvetov Lane gallery. It was here, at the turn of the 1980s and 90s, that the first exhibitions of KLAVA (the Avant-Garde Club) took place, which became the first public displays of independent art of this period.
Dates of the exhibition: April 23 - May 22.
Venue: Peresvetov Lane Gallery
Address: metro Avtozavodskaya, Peresvetov lane, 4/1
Gallery hours: Tuesday - Sunday, 11:00 - 20:00.
