From January 21 to February 10 in the halls of the historic building of the Library of Arts. A.P. Bogolyubov will host an exhibition of works by two artists - Sergei Meytuv and Sasha Murash. Two authors, two names of the exhibition, antipode exhibits: “great beauty” of watercolor landscapes and “little inconspicuous things”, which form the basis of voluminous collage paintings.
The exhibition is divided into two parts: watercolors, stored for 40 years in a dark closet, and new paintings, objects, or assemblies - collected from the "atoms of the landscape" - small natural particles: shells, bones, roots, dry herbs, etc. and amateur archaeological finds.
“Terra Incognita” - an unknown land, this is the first name of the exhibition. Why? The earth has been studied, and they say there are no white spots. But this is only in a geographical sense, in the field of artistic and mystical knowledge, white spots only increase over time. Is it given to the artist and the audience, without these fears, to walk the path of a wanderer, now gaining knowledge, then moving further away from him.
Watercolors created by Meytuv in the early 80s, mainly in the Crimea (Koktebel), at a time when the author was deeply hypnotized by the work of Maximilian Voloshin, had not been exhibited before. “I selected them from my collection and designed them again, combining them with flowers, leaves, herbs and stones that were collected in Koktebel in those years,” says Sergey. Surprisingly subtle, airy landscapes are adjacent to paintings-objects - woven from things that seem to be as mundane as possible, everyday, and somewhere intimate and everyday.
"Thing. Earth. Time ”is the second name of the exhibition. Part of the exposition, consisting of voluminous collages - the result of the joint work of Sergei Meytuv and sculptor Sasha Murash - is assembled from things that "lived in the earth and were very saturated with Time." “I loved and love in nature, I little inconspicuous things. And the smaller they are, the more insignificant, the deeper they are trampled into roadside dust, the more joy, surprise, compassion and artistic curiosity fill my soul, ”says the artist.
