The Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (Lenin St., 103) will host an exhibition of A.A. Lyubavina "The Artist and the Model."
You do not have to be a naturalist to remain realistic. The artist Anatoly Lyubavin confirms this with word and deed, he is a follower of academic traditions, but his works are not a repetition of old principles. At the heart of his paintings is a classical form, but it is transformed by time and quest. The artist seeks and finds his art form, his space. For him, there is no need to go on a distant search for motive, plot, inspiration, he finds all this “here and now”, at his side. For him, the source of inspiration is what is nearby, what is close and his own - home, family. He is already engaged in search in every single work, because in the picture there should be nothing superfluous, nothing causing questions, everything should obey one great harmony of the whole.
Special meaning and content takes on space in the works of A. Lyubavin, which carries a special spiritual content, and at the same time becomes an integral part of the compositional solution. Space is as important as the main characters, it is one, it is full, it is extremely harmonious in the framework of the canvas.
The artist’s works are unprecedented, as if he grabs a piece of life and fills it, at first glance, with uncomplicated content. He always seeks the most harmonious around himself, consciously does not notice the anxiety and fuss that is happening nearby. It was as if time froze in his works, so that the viewer could see and examine beautiful images filled with the quiet joy of life.
Anatoly Lyubavin is a subtle and distinctive colorist; he easily and effortlessly works with color, using it as the main emotionally expressive means. The paintings are built of large and small color planes, combining bright and flashy colors when a particularly emotional solution requires it, or calm, muffled when it comes to a quiet lyrical scene.
