The exhibition was prepared with the support of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan by the Knowledge Foundation and the mayor’s office of the capital city Adan of the Republic of Turkey. It is dedicated to the memory of Andrei Karlov, a wonderful man and an outstanding diplomat who has done a lot to strengthen Russian-Turkish relations. Thanks to his help, high indicators of mutually beneficial trade and economic relations between Turkey and the Republic of Tatarstan were achieved.
“Photographing can be a job or a hobby, traveling with a camera gives us the opportunity to stop the moment,” Lutfi Küpeli said. He was born on December 1, 1970 in the city of Turkoglu, Kahramanmaras province. He came to photojournalism, while still a lyceum student. Subsequently, the passion for photographing and the persistence instilled in life led him to the press service of the Ceyhan City Hall. Currently lives and works in Adana, the largest city in Turkey.
Last year, on the initiative of the board of the NGO Tatarstan-Turkey Friendship Society, he was invited to Kazan. I saw a lot of interesting things here: “Acquaintance with different cultures for us photographers is like traveling in space and time. I am writing about Tatarstan, about its capital Kazan. Living here, in Kazan, of course, they know well what is captured in these photos, but I would like them to see Tatarstan, Kazan differently - through the eyes of a person from Turkey… ”
The exhibition will present photographs not only with the architectural and natural attractions of Tatarstan, Kazan, but also Adana, the oldest city in the south of Turkey, which became the favorite photographer Lutfi Kupeli. In Europe, this city is known for its interesting and diverse cultural life. Every year, international film and theater festivals are held here, for example, Altın Koza International Film Festival, which has been held since the late 60s of the last century.
At the photo exhibition we will see the world through the eyes of Lutfi Kupeli.
This project is just the first step. To be continued…
The exhibition runs until May 15, 2018.
