In the halls of the Russian Academy of Arts an exhibition of works by the Honored Artist of Russia, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts Nikolai Nikolaevich Tereshchenko “Plates. 66. Tablichki. " The exhibition features more than 100 works by the artist, created by the author in recent years.
Nikolai Tereshchenko was born in Moscow in 1953, in the artist’s family. Starting to paint from 2 years old, a talented boy did not change his predetermined path. Not knowing any other medium except the atmosphere of art, he, like a sponge, absorbed the basics of skill taught to him by his father, the unique artist N. I. Tereshchenko, who was and always remains his main teacher.
In 1970, Nikolai Tereshchenko entered the Moscow State Art Institute. IN AND. Surikov, at the Faculty of Easel Painting, where he studies in the studio of the famous, venerable artist, Professor D.K. Mochalsky and wonderful teachers - surprisingly artistic G.G. Korolev and the wonderful draftsman V.I. Nekrasov.
Already in his student years, Nikolai Tereshchenko exhibited at youth exhibitions, and upon joining the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1979, he participated in exhibitions of all possible ranks and levels: Moscow, Republican, All-Union, International, where his work is always an event.
In the creative biography of Nikolai Tereshchenko, there are nine personal exhibitions that took place in Russia, Italy, Bulgaria, San Marino, Israel. The author’s works are in museum collections and in private collections.
Nikolai Tereshchenko is a polyphonic artist. In his work there is no once found plastic language that could be traced in all his works. The artist is constantly changing to find a way to himself. And each time it surprises with an unexpected and vivid result.
The exhibition presented to the public is an important stage in the author’s creative biography. This is a kind of opportunity to look at ourselves from the outside in a new quality.
Nikolai Tereshchenko confidently came to himself, 65 years old, with the works that the audience will see at this exhibition and will be able to plunge into the world of images and allegories, embodied through paints, cardboard and brushes that obediently followed the artist’s imagination. The world of Nikolai Tereshchenko’s “tablets” is so voluminous, dense and significant that it seems that it can change the viewer’s consciousness and worldview. Toothy, fanged, big-eyed, horned, multi-armed and multi-legged, characters of “tablets” are a fantastic world created by the artist in which he lives and which helps him express his state of mind, heart and mind at a time when the author is left alone with inspiration. Images created by the artist’s imagination are always unpredictable and not like one another. They have only one thing in common - all of them are kind, despite the horns, fangs and bared teeth.
The material that the master now uses for his works is household waste, cardboard, all kinds of packaging, which, instead of clogging the planet even more, are turned into works of art under his hands. Fancy shapes and arbitrary, non-standard sizes of boxes and a variety of packaging, as it were, cause the artist to a duel in which he wins, contrasting his artistic originality and uniqueness to the world of consumption.
