On August 7 at 16:00, the exhibition of Mark Margulis “Table. Rehearsal No. 9 "dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the" Color "studio of the Moscow Zoo.
The idea of the project appeared back in the 90s, when close friends of the artist and sculptor Mark Margulis began to leave the country, their favorite teachers were gone, but the memory that I wanted to share with others remained.
“There was an amazing atmosphere in the house,” recalls the author of the project, “there were conversations, sometimes disputes, which always ended peacefully. Father and mother cooked superbly and set the large table surprisingly beautifully. I keep these traditions to this day. " This is how the idea of a huge installation appeared, where people who influenced the artist’s creative path and worldview would gather at a large table teeming with treats.
The first "rehearsal" of the project took place in 2007 in the exhibition halls of the International Art Fund. For the third time, the exhibition was held at the Belyaevo gallery in 2008: then the exhibition featured the works of 25 itinerant artists.
This exhibition is the 9th "rehearsal" of the project. At the 7-meter table, 7 teachers who are close in spirit to Margulis will gather: Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Bosch, Bruegel, Durer, as well as himself.
Along with large-scale sculptures of famous characters, the exposition will include paintings and graphic works (still lifes, paintings of the animal genre) by students from the "Color" studio living in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, Germany, France, Great Britain, the USA, Israel, Japan, Korea, India, Algeria, Congo and Egypt.
