The St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra conducted by the People’s Artist of Russia Sergei Stadler will once again surprise the cultural capital. For the sixth time, the team is on the record and again invites Petersburgers to take part in the seven-hour Symphony Marathon.
The main character of the sixth Marathon was Franz Schubert - the first romantic and the last classic, in whose music the worldview of titanium and the acute experience of his dissimilarity to others merged. Perhaps that is why he still remains one of the most mysterious figures in the history of culture. On November 24, on the Capella stage, the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Sergey Stadler will unfold before the audience the whole life path of Schubert, expressed in sound, and maybe slightly open the veil of secrecy surrounding the great master.
Recall that for the first time, the Petersburg Concert and the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra conducted by the People’s Artist of Russia Sergei Stadler offered fans of the classics the format of a musical marathon in 2014. Today it is one of the cultural traditions of our city. In different years, within the framework of the Marathon, the orchestra performed symphonies of Brahms, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Liszt. The 2017 “Symphonic Marathon” was dedicated to Beethoven’s symphonic heritage. It lasted more than 8 hours and was officially recognized by the Russian record as “the longest symphonic concert of the works of one author performed by one orchestra under the direction of one conductor”. The "Symphonic Marathon" is held in the format of several concert sessions. The duration of each of the concert sessions depends on the musical material presented in it. Having bought one ticket to the Marathon, the spectator gets the opportunity to visit all the concerts included in his program or to select the concert whose program will seem to him the most interesting. Spectators can leave or enter the hall in between concert sessions.
