Five outstanding works of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts participate in the large-scale exhibition "Treasures of Russian Museums" in the Central Exhibition Hall "Manege" Automatic translate
From November 4 to 25, an exposition unprecedented in scale, prepared by the Patriarchal Council for Culture - “Treasures of Russian Museums” was presented at the XVII church and public exhibition-forum “Orthodox Russia - to the Day of National Unity”. Under the roof of the Manege, more than 280 of the most significant exhibits from 50 museums of Russia have been collected.
Never before in the history of Russia in a single collection have been shown works of art from different parts of our vast Motherland: from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad, from Khanty-Mansiysk to Feodosia and, of course, from Central Russia and the Volga region.
The exhibition amazes not only with geography, but also with its time coverage. Here are the works of several centuries: from the icons of the Rurikovich era to the twentieth century.
In preparation for the opening, a lot of work was done. The total length of the collection routes from regional museums alone amounted to 145,040 km. Many paintings specially for the exhibition in the Manege have been restored.
The main theme of the exhibition was the indestructible unity of the country’s cultural space. The works not only speak of enormous creative potential, but also represent a colossal educational and artistic foundation.
