On November 10, the ARTMUZA Museum of Contemporary Art opens a collective exhibition of the LEGA Workshop “M. - St. Petersburg. ". You will be able to feel the vibrations of the Moscow underground and get to know the artists at the vernissage on November 16th.
The LEGA workshop is a slightly secret exhibition area in Moscow, which has gathered a circle of like-minded artists on the principle of a “wonderful community”. Exhibition "M. - St. Petersburg. ” will unite many artists of the Workshop and, accordingly, a wide range of trends - from academic figurative to Suprematist abstraction, from intellectual and literary “conceptualism” to spontaneously emotional “expressiveness”.
The exposition includes painting, graphics and sculpture, conditionally grouped into four main series. In the Miracles of Topology, any spatial object is transformed in relation to banality, and the surrounding or imaginary reality itself looks like a visual attraction, full of meanings and experiences. In the "Anatomical Grotesque" series, artists transform - up to deformation and destruction - body images, violate the norms of corporeality accepted in "normal" culture with its ideals of beauty and stereotypes of decency.
The direction "Garbage as Art" is filled with proposals for the disposal and processing of civilizational garbage by rethinking and including it in the value structure of modern culture. And “Extreme Plein Air” is a kind of adventure, where the choice of non-banal, unaesthetic, random types for capturing, uncomfortable and even risky working conditions, the use of non-traditional, sometimes spontaneous techniques, materials and methods of iso-display of the observed reality is at the forefront.
The LEGA Creative Association is an experimental project by Moscow-based artist Elena Vecherina that combines a gallery, workshop and lecture hall where everyone can experience art, demonstrate their own work and participate in lectures and discussions.
