Literary and musical composition for the Day of Remembrance of A.S. Pushkin was prepared by literary critic Yevgeny Martsinkevich, actress Natalia Kudryavtseva and pianist Sergei Forostyaniy.
“The novel in letters” is an unfinished work on which Pushkin, judging by his notes, worked in the autumn and winter of 1829. The reader gets acquainted with several characters: Lisa, the girl who left St. Petersburg for the village, Sasha, her friend, whom she writes to., Vladimir, a young man passionate about Lisa. The correspondence of the characters, apparently, seemed to Pushkin a convenient means for discussing issues of concern to him, as well as for revealing the inner world of the characters of the novel. On the other hand, it is possible that the epistolary form then seemed to Pushkin somewhat outdated, not free enough and giving away to all the then still memorable sensitivity of sentimentalists, and he did not continue the novel. But even in such an incomplete form, “The novel in letters” is interesting for both readers and actors who find it worthy of a stage embodiment. Honored Artist of Russia Natalia Kudryavtseva invites fans of Pushkin’s work to get to know the characters of this work again and plunge into the beautiful, sophisticated world of the first third of the 19th century.
