From December 6 to December 17, 2019, the Luna Gallery will host a solo exhibition by the Krasnodar artist Konstantin Kansky, “Shadow for the Sun”.
The exhibition presents more than 30 works of different periods of the artist. The exhibition is based on genre compositions, with a complex plot, harmoniously complemented by still lifes, landscapes and portraits in a unique author’s style.
Kansky’s work is a kind of equivalent to the literary fantasy genre, expressed by means of plastic metaphors in a unique system of images. Postmodernism is understood by many in its own way, but no one is free from it. Experiencing the influence of this direction and developing it in its own way, Konstantin Kansky has been presently present in the contemporary art space and the art market of Russia for more than 20 years, winning the interest of critics and art lovers.
You enter Konstantin’s world as a beautiful magical story that takes us from everyday life to an ideal country. He combines the meanings and values of the daily course of life with science fiction and a fairy tale, creates his own version of the world in which harmonious relations between characters can be built according to romantic or surreal laws.
One clever German philosopher once wrote that humanity, laughing, is parting with its past. Kansky, who perfectly knows all kinds of comic art, from light to “black” humor, hyperbole and grotesque, has nostalgia for an idealized past. He contrasts the modern world with the romantic dream of the beautiful country of Arcadia, where people live according to harmonious laws and where only love conflicts are possible, and knightly tournaments instead of wars.
The work of Konstantin Kansky is proof that the world continues to live a dream!
