PARALLELS. Intersection. Exhibition of photographs by Boris Sysoev and Sergey Novikov.

The idea of this exhibition was born during a friendly meeting between two eminent masters of art photography Boris Sysoev (Moscow) and Sergey Novikov (Yekaterinburg) with the director of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vitaly Afiani and corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexander Tolstikov. It consisted in the desire to show in a single exhibition space photo portraits of prominent figures in Russian science and art, members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Arts.

Indeed, such a contact between the two academies does not happen so often, which makes such a project remarkable in itself. It would seem that two completely different in their main areas of activity of the Academy, Sciences and Arts - as two parallel lines. Do not intersect. And then suddenly the intersection point was found. These are hospitable exhibition halls of the RAS Archive.

Yes, at the exhibition you will see the faces of famous scientists and artists. Cheerful, thoughtful, thinking, suffering, filmed by a "hidden camera" and openly posing. These are portraits of people who make up the true elite of the Russian, but rather, Soviet, society. Yes, and the world. Look at these faces…

With great skill, the photographers managed to catch the subtle state of the soul of their heroes, who, despite their merits, ranks and great deeds, are primarily people, our compatriots living among us, working next to us.
