The Small Academy of Arts – Vladimir Lubenko School presents the anniversary exhibition “Mom and Dad, Dots of Love” From the Vulcan Studio of Art Education at the State Russian Museum to the Small Academy of Arts at the Vladimir Lubenko Museum

According to the principle of its creation, the Small Academy of Arts is a unique example of the implementation of the author’s creative idea, which for 40 years determined not only the nature of scientific and cultural activities, but also the lifestyle.

The author and creator of the Small Academy of Arts is Vladimir Vasilyevich Lubenko, a famous monumental artist, Honored Artist of Russia, and candidate of pedagogical sciences. He graduated with honors from the Repin Academy, A. Mylnikov’s workshop.

The opening day of the studio of education by synthesis of arts and sciences, then the studio "Vulcan" at the State Russian Museum, was February 14, 1984. And since then, moving from status to status, the Small Academy of Arts has preserved and revealed its face thanks to a single integral system of education. V. Lubenko defended his candidate’s dissertation on pedagogy, which has always been the internal core of the life and activity of the team.

Studying at the Small Academy of Arts develops in our students the skill of multifaceted systemic thinking, which is in demand in any sphere of both professional and personal activity. A systemic approach through the synthesis of different types of art (painting, literature, music, theater, mosaic) and sciences (ecology, linguistics, fairy tale laboratory, physics, chemistry, mathematics) allows them to get a holistic picture of the world in the process of development and cognition and in the future have more flexible thinking and the ability to find non-standard solutions in their professional and personal activities.

Another “pillar” of this method is the moral postulate, which orients students towards the philosophical law of the universe – the law of unity and complementarity of opposites instead of the law of unity and struggle of opposites.

Exhibition "Daddy and Mommy Points of Love"

The exhibition "Dad and Mom Dots of Love" is dedicated to the anniversary of Vladimir Lubenko’s author’s school - the Small Academy of Arts, which turned 40 in 2024.  

The exhibition will clearly illustrate the principles of the author’s pedagogical system with works of art created by students of different generations.

The exhibition’s exposition is united by the main idea that runs like a “red thread” through all the School’s educational programs – the idea of ​​LOVE as the embodiment of the law of Unity and Complement of Opposites.

The theme of the BIRTH OF LOVE will be revealed at our exhibition through the FAMILY (7 I)!

DAD AND MOM – Seven sections, seven stages of awakening and birth of love.

LOVE FOR THE MOTHERLAND – will be presented through a series of 10 monumental paintings about Peter the Great, as a true example of selfless, sacrificial, obsessive love for his homeland, and through a series of graphic works dedicated to the great feat of besieged Leningrad.  

LOVE FOR FAMILY – will be embodied through abstract compositions – reflections (watercolor, graphic, mosaic), as well as through pictorial compositions on the theme of finding and creating a family, through the images of heroes of such fairy tales as “The Tale of Tsar Saltan”, “The Frog Princess”.

LOVE OF NATURE – will be presented through a series of plein air works, sketches from nature and compositions.

LOVE OF KNOWLEDGE – will be embodied through a series of monumental paintings “The Road of Life”.

LOVE FOR THE UNIVERSE will be embodied in the exhibition through a series of original compositions on the theme “Creation of the World”.

LOVE OF ART – will be presented through a series of copies of paintings by Russian and foreign artists, as well as through still lifes.

LOVE FOR PEOPLE – will be presented through creative activity for people, embodied in monumental works for public places. This idea will be revealed through fragments of monumental painting by students of the Small Academy of Arts, as well as through the exhibition of the panel "Source of Life" from the artist’s largest monumental project in the urban environment, in which he was able to realize the idea of ​​the work of the master and students and the idea of ​​continuing the ideas of the master in his students - the famous open-air museum "St. Petersburg - Olympus of Culture" by Vladimir Lubenko on the Fontanka Embankment, 2 (Mosaic Yard).

The exhibition is addressed to the widest possible audience and will clearly demonstrate the possibilities of the author’s methodology in the development of a thinking, creative, moral personality. Bright, meaningful works, including unique collective monumental works for children’s creativity, will undoubtedly not leave all art lovers indifferent. A unique feature of the exhibition will be direct communication between viewers and the authors of the works. Pupils of the Small Academy of Arts will be guides at this exposition.
