Students of the Kamenkovich-Krymov Experimental Course (GITIS) will present their work as artists at the "START" CSI Winery Plant on December 12. In the framework of the group exhibition “Image of the Enemy”, participants use the methods of modern theater and visual art.
Ten students of the Kamenkovich-Krymov course became participants in the “START” project following the results of a portfolio review series conducted by the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art in 2017. Meetings of experts with students of art and creative universities give novice artists a chance to implement their project in one of the leading cultural institutions of the country.
A group exhibition at the START venue combines work in different media in one space: video, objects, installations, painting and others. The subject of artists’ reflection is the image of the enemy, interpreted through ten personal stories. The works created especially for the exhibition are devoted to the study of the global problems of the young generation - overcoming children’s fears, obsessive thoughts about total surveillance and terror, an attempt to understand the definition of the term “enemy” in the context of actual reality.
Vera Trachtenberg, curator of the START project, Center for Contemporary Arts Winery, season 2017/2018: “Young people born in the 1990s do not understand and do not know the“ enemies ”of the past, but the echoes of the fears of older generations are alarming. This is becoming apparent now that our primitive fears and ideas about the enemy as something else, unknown and therefore dangerous, reach the limit. The “Image of the Enemy” exhibition is not a politicized story, but an experiment-study in which ten students position the enemy as a family drama, internal conflict, the eternal problem of fathers and children, a threat to security from the past, violation of the right to privacy and other relevant “fears” modern world. Artists choose a wide variety of media, making statements in the format of a “new sincerity”, which is characterized by a special perception of the world, sensuality and openness. "
Exhibitors: Grigory Rakhmilovich, Evgenia Rzheznikova, Anna Itkina, Olga Sizoi, Alexandra Dykhne, Maria Plavinskaya, Elizaveta Guseva, Anna Grebennikova, Varvara Ivanik, Katerina Shargina.
The Enemy Image exhibition is open until January 14, 2018. Admission is free.
