The Moscow School of Contemporary Art (MSCA) and SISTEMA GALLERY open a group exhibition of students “New Entities”. The works of 13 artists will reflect discussions about the world beyond human perception.
On display is an exhibition of diploma works by students from the MSCA Contemporary Art program. objects, installations, works on fabric, sculptures, series of photographs, paintings and a computer game are presented. The exhibition will be held from July 11 to September 1, admission is free.
The exhibition project was created by artists within the laboratory of SISTEMA GALLERY curator Nadya Oktyabr. The authors’ goal was to explore what a world without people could be like. Most things around us are subject to human perception, but what if the real world is somewhat different? Artists ask this question and invite viewers to think with them.
At the exhibition, the works complement each other and create an atmosphere of the unknown.
“One of the most important tasks of SISTEMA GALLERY is the search and formation of new names in the Russian and international art market. This summer we are presenting the works of MSCA graduates of 2024 and hope that this project will be unforgettable for both young artists and collectors and the general public,” said gallery director Anastasia Volkova on the eve of the exhibition.
“The exhibition “New Entities” is the culmination and finale of the training of young artists at MSCA. And we hope that it will be the starting point for them on an independent professional path to the big art world,” said Mikhail Levin, director of the Moscow School of Contemporary Art.
“The laboratory implies an experiment with an open ending. To “think the unthinkable,” my students and I turned to the philosophy of speculative realism—a new school of thought since the 2000s. And in order to embody the feeling of isolation and foreignness of the “world beyond our perception,” we studied the methods of so-called object-oriented art - this is also a new phenomenon, since the 2010s,” said SISTEMA GALLERY curator Nadya Oktyabr.
The exhibition “New Entities” presents works by: Marina Grekova, Anastasia Kashuba, Anna Zueva, Daria Sidorina, Ellie Alekseeva, Kristina Purshina, Inna Shevchenko, Ekaterina Osipova, Sergei Ratnichkin, Ekaterina Gerun, Anna Epishina, Elena Surova, Daria Lazareva.
