Pavel Aleksandrovich Borisov, 75 years old, member of the TSH of Russia since 1972. This exhibition is the result of the artist’s creative activity for almost half a century. The exhibition presents graphic and pictorial works - this is a small part of what was created by the artist. The main themes in the work of Pavel Borisov are presented - portrait, religious subjects, easel illustration and themes of modern life. The artist developed his own style and manner, which he himself defines as grotesque-critical realism. Especially this look of the artist can be seen in his portraits of people of domestic and world culture. He found his special approach, polysyllabic and respectful to his characters (“Triple Portrait (Saltykov-Shchedrin, Swift, Gogol)”, “Seine Embankment (Bunin in Paris)”, “Sergey Diaghilev”).
The young artist was greatly impressed by the works of Ernest Unknown at the exhibition in the Manege on the 30th anniversary of Moscow Art Museum, meeting and working in the sculptor’s workshop as an assistant. The painting "17 rubles from Ernst the Unknown" is dedicated to this event.
He began to engage in professional art in the 60s of the last century in Moscow publishing houses, designing books and magazines as an illustrator and designer. Since the mid 70’s he became interested in easel painting. Member of many exhibitions of painting and graphics. He was awarded an honorary diploma, bronze, silver and gold medal of the TSH of Russia. Winner of art contests related to memorable dates of outstanding Russian cultural figures. The eight museums in Moscow and St. Petersburg contain paintings and graphic works by artist Pavel Borisov.
