Lucania is in ancient times a significant region in southern Italy between Samnius, Campania, Bruttius and Puglia. Since 1947, this important cultural region of the country has been officially named Basilicata. Clean air, the beauty of the region and the color of the local population have always been admired by writers, artists and filmmakers. At one time, Horace and Carlo Levy, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Francis Ford Coppola worked here. The natural features of Lucania, combined with historical monuments, make the region one of the most interesting in Italy.
Massimo Vichinanza’s photographs reflect the real life of the region, sometimes hidden from the eyes of ordinary tourists, the unique nature and architecture of cities, as well as the features of everyday life of local residents.
A catalog has been prepared for the exhibition with the works of the photographer and the opening address of the Italian Ambassador to Russia Pasquale Terracciano and the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Konstantinovich Tsereteli.
