May 24 at 15-00 in the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (Lenin St., 103) the grand opening of the exhibition of the Studio of military artists named after MB Grekov "Chroniclers of military glory."
Grekov Studio is a unique creative team that has been writing the glorious history of the Russian army for over 80 years. Being the heirs of the school of Russian realistic painting and the followers of such representatives as
V.V. Vereshchagin, F.A. Roubaud, M. B. Greeks, they sacredly preserve and develop the traditions of realistic painting. During the Great Patriotic War, the Greeks created outstanding works of art: posters, paintings and graphic works. Artists of the Studio made their full-scale sketches and sketches on the most dangerous sections of the Western Front in the winter of 1941, near Stalingrad in 1943, during street battles in Warsaw, Prague, Vienna, during the Berlin offensive operation. At the same time, directly from nature, directly during military operations, military episodes of the actions of our military units, destroyed cities and burnt villages, and, most importantly, portraits of the heroes of the battles themselves, were displayed on easels.
Pictures about the Great Patriotic War were created both during the war and immediately after it, they are written today. And each time leaves its mark on them. So the exposition presents the works of participants of the Second World War, whose work is a living testimony of the courage and dedication of the Soviet army on the battlefields in the battles for Moscow, Sevastopol, Kursk, Stalingrad. The cycle of paintings "Adzhimushkay. 1942 ”, created by the artist, participant of the Second World War N. Ya. But and dedicated to the defenders of the underground fortress (Adzhimushkaysky quarries, in which out of several thousand people who went down to the quarries, only 48 survived after a 170-day siege…) - this is the author’s argument about the feat, its spiritual and moral sources. There are no battles on the artist’s canvases, there is no moment of battle, we don’t see the image of the enemy, but the author reveals all the tension of the events through angles, expressive gestures, close-ups - all this allows the viewer to witness the tragic events of the distant 1942. Pictures of other artists of the Great Patriotic War, including portraits of I.A. Lukomsky, A.M. Samsonova, A.I. Fedorova, striking in their emotionality and individuality of characters, landscapes of artists V.M. Siberian, A.S. Mikhailova, A.E. Alekseev, in which the authors managed to convey the oppressive atmosphere of the war. Also at the exhibition are paintings of our contemporaries: V.B. Tautieva, V.A. Mokrushina, L.L. Shtrikman, I.M. Lebedeva, E.V. Kamynina, who work in the Studio, breathe the same air as their predecessors, absorbing the atmosphere of a glorious past.
The chronicle of the times of the Great Patriotic War is a “living history”, which makes it possible today to look at the tragic events of the past.
The contribution of Studio artists to the development of diorama-panoramic art is invaluable. The Greeks created more than a hundred dioramas and panoramas. Among them: the panorama "Battle of Stalingrad", a complex of six dioramas reflecting the most important military operations of the Second World War in the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War on Poklonnaya Hill
and many others located in different cities of Russia and other countries. One of the most prominent representatives of diorama-panoramic painting was the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Greek, P. Kaluzhanin Ryzhenko. A separate part of the exposition presented at the exhibition is dedicated to him.
The exhibition runs until July 8th.
