Curator: Andrey Sarabyanov. The exhibition will tell about the creative path of the Russian avant-garde artist, painter, sculptor, art theorist and teacher. His theories of color and light in the 1910s influenced not only Malevich himself, but also non-objective art in general. Ivan Klyun was involved in all the innovative artistic movements of his time, including neo-impressionism, symbolism and cubo-futurism.
In addition to the works of Ivan Klyun, many of which will be shown in Russia for the first time in many years, the exhibition will present the works of the artist’s friends and associates who, together with him, were looking for a way out of the strictly Suprematist canon. Olga Rozanova, Alexander Tyshler, Ivan Kudryashov and others. Klyun offered his own vision of Suprematism, based on his personal theory of light and movement in space, and his non-objective painting retains the features of a bright individual handwriting.
Works for the exhibition will be provided by MOMus - Museum of Modernism Art - Kostaki Collection, Thessaloniki (the collection contains more than 400 works by Ivan Klyun); State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow; Russian museums and private collections.
