Do not need phrases about valor and courage.
Words are just words.
We stood here. And back - not a step.
We are lying here. But it is worth Moscow.
Farther and farther into the past event, which has no equal in value and scale. This is a difficult time for our people, when it seemed that the outcome of the Great Patriotic War was predetermined and the fall of Moscow was a matter of the next few days.
The battle of Moscow is a vivid example of military strategy and valor, which changed the course of the war first in defensive battles, and ended with the defeat of the enemy in a counteroffensive that began on December 5, 1941 and went over to the offensive of the Soviet troops.
The enemy had a numerical superiority in artillery, tanks and soldiers. But no matter what, Moscow was able to defend and threw the enemy from the walls of the Kremlin for many kilometers. This was the first major defeat of the German army in World War II. The myth of its "invincibility" was destroyed. The victory in the Battle for Moscow inspired the Soviet people and the soldiers of the Red Army to new heroic feats. This date is especially carefully kept in the memory of veterans who returned from the hell of war alive.
Both regular units and volunteers who joined the people’s militia took part in the battle. Hundreds of thousands of Muscovites worked on its approaches: they dug trenches and anti-tank ditches. The victory became possible thanks to the coordinated work of millions of Soviet people. For this universal feat Moscow in 1965 was awarded the title "Hero City"!
Every year the events of those years are moving further and further away from us, the ranks of veterans are thinning out, and the participants in those fierce battles are becoming fewer and fewer. But we will always remember them. Their deed will forever remain in our hearts an example of the greatest courage, heroism and faith.
And we are descendants, we must carefully preserve the memory of our ancestors and our people. We can not allow revisions and falsification of history. Cannot be allowed to discredit the feat. It is impossible for new generations to know nothing about the Great Patriotic War or half-truth about it. We should not allow the crossing out of the heroic pages of our history, because as long as our common memory is alive, it is impossible to defeat us!
At the photo exhibition “Pages of Memory” from the series “Remember”, its authors Evgeny Zhilyaev and Galina Kuznetsova offer you to stop and look at the faces of the people in the photographs. They suffered difficulties and hardships, the death of relatives and friends, and in spite of everything they retained the ability to rejoice and smile. And day after day they show us the strength of their true “Russian character”.
We wish you, dear veterans, courage, warmth of heart, well-being, good and long life. Thank you for Moscow, thank you for the victory.
