On December 1, the FOTO ONE gallery opens a personal photo exhibition by Maria Shchemeleva, “Hearts in the Frame.” Maria Shchemeleva is a true family photographer: couples in love, newlyweds at a wedding, the birth of children and the sacrament of baptism – her work covers all the important moments, helping to create a connection between the past, present and future. Maria’s works become a kind of bridge that unites different points in time, helping the family write its own history.
Maria Shchemeleva has been taking photos since 2018, and has already captured more than 1,000 families. As Maria says, her story in photography began with the birth of her children – they were the first heroes of her shots. “After graduating from the Institute of Cinema and Television, I realized that creative professions were very close to me, and my first photography teacher noted that I have a natural vision of the frame, I can anticipate and catch moments during shooting.
The key role in my work for me is the sincerity of emotions – and I see that for my clients who choose me as their family photographer based on my work, this is just as important.
Happy people are always beautiful – time after time I prove it through my photographs. Real life, genuine feelings, sincerity and love – these are the four components of my work. And I invite you to immerse yourself in the world that I preserve in photographs at my first solo exhibition."
As J.K. Rowling said, “Families are like branches on a tree – we grow in different directions, but our roots remain one.” The photographs presented at the exhibition represent the roots of many St. Petersburg families, united by love in the frame.
Maria acts as the keeper of history, forming traditions in the family, preserving important moments of childhood and creating entire albums of memories that will warm the hearts of each family member throughout their lives.
The exhibition will run throughout December, admission is free.
