From September 18 to October 20 in Moscow at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, the Gunbi Chinese Painting Festival will be held. The festival will present the works of contemporary Russian and Chinese artists of traditional Chinese painting in the Gunbi style, which originated about 2000 years ago.
In 2019, 70 years have passed since the founding of the People’s Republic of China and 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Beijing and Moscow. The 70th anniversary is an important milestone and a new starting point. In June 2019, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin together announced an increase in the level of relations between the two countries to comprehensive relations of strategic interaction and partnership in the new era. This means that Sino-Russian relations have entered the stage of rapid development at a higher level.
With the support of the Chinese Cultural Center in Moscow, from September 18 to October 20, the Gunbi Chinese Painting Festival will be held for the third time. The All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts will present works of traditional Chinese painting in the Gunbi style of contemporary artists from Russia and China.
One of the main events of the festival in 2019 is the exhibition of works and master classes by the outstanding Chinese master Li Xiaoming. His works are admired all over the world, and textbooks and contours are used by everyone who creates paintings in the exquisite Gunby style. Li Xiaoming graduated from the faculty of arts of Anhui University. He prefers to work in the genre of "flowers and birds" in the style of Gunby. Special admiration for specialists and art lovers gained his paintings with peonies and lotuses. In addition, he created a series of copies of the recognized masterpieces of the Song Dynasty, which are executed with such skill that they are sometimes mistaken for originals. Russian painting lovers will have a unique opportunity to meet a master who will share the secrets of his art.
For all visitors, the festival organizers have prepared a large program of free demonstrations and master classes from Russian artists. Individual excursions, demonstration workshops and tea ceremonies will be held daily for festival guests. All those present can get in touch with the art of painting in China and feel how fascinating it is.
The exposition will combine the work of modern painters who will present landscapes, images of flowers, birds, animals and fish. Favorite subjects - peonies, lotuses, carps, everything that has a benevolent value in Chinese painting. The works of contemporary artists will amaze those present with a thorough drawing: the antennae of moths, the hair of an animal, the delicate blush of the cheeks of beauties or the subtle color nuances of flower buds, all this is masterfully reflected in every work.
The organizer of the festival is the Moscow club of fans of Chinese painting Gunbi. The authors of the project are sure that this is not just a joint exhibition, but cultural cooperation on a long-term basis.
