Continuing to develop the traditions of cultural relations between Russia and India, the production company Sinemarus, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Union of Russian Filmmakers, presents the second international film forum Days of Russian Cinema in the capital of Bollywood - the city of Mumbai.
The forum will be opened by the musical comedy of Zhora Kryzhovnikov’s “Best Day”, which the Indian public will see in the legendary Royal Opera House, which has just opened after restoration. And on November 16, in Mumbai, they will show the film by Pavel Lungin “Dame Peak”, a day earlier than the picture is released in Russia.
The forum program announced films of various genres that make it possible to get an idea of modern Russian cinema from both the artistic and commercial sides. The latest domestic films will be shown to the Indian audience: Hammer (2016, director Nurbek Egen), Good Boy (2016, director Oksana Karas), Icebreaker (2016, director Nikolai Khomeriki), Crew (2016, director Nikolai Lebedev), “Friday” (2016, director Evgeny Shelyakin) and others.

In addition to film screenings, during the forum there will be meetings of actors and directors with spectators, press conferences and a round table discussion “New prospects for cooperation in the field of cinema between Russia and India”, as well as visits to Bollywood studios and social events.
The venue of the festival was not chosen by chance. Mumbai is the recognized capital of the Indian film industry and one of the country’s most important economic and cultural centers. The days of Russian cinema in this metropolis will contribute to the development of new ties with the creative and economic elite of the country, the strengthening of cooperation in the film industry, as well as the expansion of cultural exchange and the formation, in the language of cinema, of a positive image of Russia as a strategic partner of India. The first forum, Days of Russian Cinema, held in 2015, was noted in a joint statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adopted at the BRICS Summit. Given the successful experience of last year and the direction of international politics in Russia, the scale of the second festival in a row will become much wider.
Forum producer, adviser to the staff of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, editor-in-chief of The Hollywood Reporter. Russia Maria Lemesheva: “Days of Russian cinema in Mumbai are becoming a traditional event - last year, the Indian public very warmly received all the films shown during the festival, almost 5 thousand local spectators attended the screenings. We are sure that this year will be no less successful, especially since we bring the most vivid pictures that have just appeared on domestic screens. Together with our partners, we are doing everything possible to revive the broad interest of the Indian public in Russian cinema and to establish close ties between the film industries of our countries. ”
