Tatyana Nazarenko is a national artist of Russia, an academician and member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, winner of many awards and winner of prizes, including the State Prize of the Russian Federation, Moscow Prize, and the Triumph Prize.
The exposition, deployed in the exhibition halls of the Russian Academy of Arts, features more than 40 paintings, 30 graphic sheets, installation and several art objects made by the author from the 90s to the present. Among them are paintings such as “Maslovka Workshop”, “Historical Monument”, “Salome”, “Lot and Daughters”, “Game”, “Venice Carnival”, “Lovers in the Blue Bedroom”, works from the famous series “Family Album” "And the graphic series" People of the Beasts. "
The exhibition project “Dialogue with Time” takes a different look at the problems of time in the work of Tatyana Nazarenko. The viewer is faced with a large-scale exposure, built on the principle of fragmented display. Paintings and series of easel graphics, silhouette portraits of plywood and installation, appropriating the technique and texture of paintings, make up the "panorama" of works created over the past thirty years. An attempt to avoid a retrospective genre switches attention from the artist’s biography to the narrative structure of the exposition, which captures modernity as “historical time”. The present, shown by the author, is a constantly open zone of confrontation and participation, a theater of war where time arises as a resource of life, everyday life and history, as a social construct.
Tatyana Nazarenko establishes a dialogue not with time itself, but with its political, practiced opportunities. The artist clarifies the scenes of life and perceives it in the categories of a holistic historical environment, expressed in the experience of various cultures that have special ways of reproducing time. Three dimensions - past, present and future - are connected with each other within the framework of a dynamic and original unity of historical view. The picturesque compositions seem to open the feeling of the length of time and constantly form the differences between the hierarchies of politicians of historical periods behind leisure, prestige, public and private communication, refractions of memory and myth in the geography of urban and rural spaces. The heroes of these compositions are not people (individuals) at all, but “desire machines” - figuratives who capture in their content self-sufficient and spontaneous subjectivity, vital vitality, which is built on the models and processes of social activity.
