From the works of European artists, the attention of collectors was attracted by the painting of the Italian painter Giuseppe Giardello “Neapolitan Fishermen”. In this picture, which is distinguished by the brightness of colors, the artist managed to convey the beauty of the Mediterranean coast and the characteristic images of Italian fishermen. The lot was sold at a price of 285,000 rubles.
In the "Graphics" section, two works left the auction. The interest of buyers was caused by the illustration of Salvador Dali to the "Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri. In 1951, the famous artist received an order from the Italian government to create 100 images, on the basis of which prints were to be made for the publication of the great work of Dante. However, under the influence of the public, outraged by the fact that the Spanish artist is working on illustrations for the book of the Italian author, the contract was broken. But Dali still brought the work to an end, and the book saw the light in an independent publishing house. One of the hundred illustrations presented at the auction of the East European Antique House was sold for 45,000 rubles.
