Erarta Museum presents the first solo exhibition of Alexandra Efimova, full of movement and children’s delight of play
- Pictures as dynamic as dreams
- Striving to catch the momentary impulse
- Painting reminiscent of musical improvisation
The exhibition of Alexandra Efimova is very personal, it combines both the professional searches of the painter and the children’s delight of the game. These are excerpts from a kind of diary that the author has kept over the past two years. The incompleteness present in the works is associated with the artist’s desire to catch the momentary impulse that sets the inner world in motion. This painting resembles experimental music: improvisation is perceived as sound chaos, but it draws the listener into a powerful stream.
The artist does not seek to make the statement clear - Efimova plunges the viewer into an atmosphere of sleep. A rare dream can be viewed in detail - the images are replaced with lightning speed, without lingering in memory. In the author’s world, children are busy with their usual things: they jump rope and constantly run somewhere - they rush past so rapidly that they literally dissolve in the air or merge with wet asphalt.
Everything is in motion here: roosters are fighting furiously, a horse is racing at full speed, a ghostly dog overcomes an obstacle, birds flap their wings. The glance barely had time to fix the picture - the image immediately melts, becomes transparent and volatile. Children and animals appear and disappear, and the space around them lives in its own rhythm, which obeys the physics of sleep, masterfully modeled using painting.
