New victory of Ivan Tverdovsky at a festival in the Netherlands Automatic translate
ROTTERDAM. Director Ivan Tverdovsky won a grant from the Eurimages Cinema Support Fund to shoot a new film.
Some time ago, the head of the non-fiction film studio "Point of View", the famous documentary filmmaker Ivan Sergeyevich Tverdovsky was forced to add the prefix "senior" to his surname. His son Ivan, a graduate of the workshop of Alexei Uchitel, decided to continue the family dynasty. After the release of the first short film "Holy Groove" 10 years have passed. Now Tverdovsky, Jr., one of the leaders of the Russian “new wave”, is called the star of the art house cinema, whose new works are welcomed by international festivals of any rank. Previous works - “Correction Class” and “Zoology” - brought the young director a lot of awards: at the Kinotavr, Karlovy Vary, Cottbus, Chicago, Philadelphia, Austin, Zurich.
Tverdovsky’s next victory was an impressive grant from the European Film Support Foundation Eurimages at the CineMart festival in Rotterdam. This organization also supported the creation of Zoology. € 20,000 will go towards a co-production project called Jumpmen. The protagonist does not disdain self-supporting devices for the purpose of profit, using his extraordinary abilities for other purposes. The jury preferred the idea, which allows you to draw attention to relevant and sensitive topics. One of the arguments in favor of the winning project is the choice of an accessible language for the audience and innovative experiments in improving the cinematic language.
The director plans to complete preparations for the filming process in late summer. In mid-February, Tverdovsky took part in a similar pitching, but already in the German capital, at the Berlinale Co-Production Market. Jumpmen, like Zoology, is a joint project of French and Russian companies - Arizona Productions and New People. Natalya Mokritskaya’s company also took part in producing such films as “Depicting a Victim”, “Titans” and “Yuryev Day” by Serebrennikov, “Correction Class” by Tverdovsky, “My Dad Baryshnikov” by Povolotsky, as well as by Sergey Mokritsky. One of the goals of a trip to Berlin is the choice of a German co-producer.
