The Cervantes Institute premiered the film "Conspiracy of the Crazy" by Algis Arlauskas Automatic translate
MOSCOW. The madness of the brave is the wisdom of life and the approach of dreams.
The departure of the famous actor Algis Arlauskas to Spain a quarter century ago did not cause much resonance. The troubled 90s stood in the courtyard, colleagues and spectators were busy with their own survival and searching for themselves at the turn of the eras.
But this emigration was not accidental. In 1937, thousands of Spanish families, saving their children from the horrors of the Civil War, were forced to accept their evacuation outside the country. The USSR accepted approximately 3,000 boys and girls of different ages (out of 34,000). Among them was Algis’s mother. Her forced emigration lasted until the end of her life. Her son was destined to return to her ancestral homeland. The invitation of Spanish television to shoot a series of documentaries about the fate of Basque children who ended up in the Land of Soviets determined its future fate. The plot of each of his films is piercing, often tragic life stories. Whether it’s a diploma work “Touch” dedicated to deaf-blind people, the documentary “Letter to Mother” about the paralyzed writer and journalist Ruben David Gonzalez Gallego or the game “Winner” about the problems of the Russian hinterland.
The plot of the documentary “Conspiracy of the Crazy”, which premiered on November 14 at the Instituto Cervantes de Moscú in Moscow, will also not leave the audience indifferent to the fate of the protagonist. Arlauskas names the professor, writer and politician Enrique Gaston, who for many years was a companion of Allende, the modern Don Quixote. His idea of building a theater in the mountains seems to many utopian and even crazy. The prospects for completing construction work are very distant. Gaston, trying to realize his old plan, does not bother this circumstance. He does what seems right and very important to those around him. For thoughtful viewers with an open mind, “The Conspiracy of the Crazy” is an occasion to think about the human right to a dream, the possibility of not being like everyone else, the need for empathy and tolerance. There is nothing to add to the textbook “Madness of the brave - this is the wisdom of life!”
