MOSCOW. The Lyubimovka festival, which once again gathered young playwrights in the capital, opened at the Theater.doc. The festival began on September 3 and will last eight days. The main program "Lyubimovka" will be attended by twenty works of beginner playwrights. There were much more people wishing to participate in the festival - 625 plays participated in the qualifying competition.

Among the twenty participants of the competition program there are many new names, but several participants at previous festivals have already presented their plays. They were noted, but did not fall into the competition program. After the end of the festival, all the plays of the competition twenty will be published on its website.

This year, the organizers of "Lyubimovka" slightly changed the selection of works for out-of-competition programs. Now the right to create her poster is granted to the curator, who changes annually. This time, the participants in this program were personally selected by Elena Kovalskaya, art director of the Meyerhold Center.

Another change occurred in the festival program. The two previous festivals represented a night marathon called the Psycho Night. During this marathon, the authors presented the most daring, non-formatted plays. Now PsychoNight has been replaced by a program presented as “Disputed Territory”.

The authors of the plays included in the poster of "Disputed Territory", creating their works, are looking for a new artistic language, trying to expand the boundaries of the theater. The new festival program involves six plays presented by debutant authors. Another innovation of Lyubimovka was the club, called the Smile Cafe. It also has its own play-reader program.

During the festival, the dramaturg plus educational program will be held, combining lectures and master classes.
