The tour program is supplemented by readings and presentations of new plays written by playwrights of the Urals. Petersburg audiences will also be able to see two documentaries where they learn some details from the life of Kolyada Theater.
The history of Kolyada-Theater dates back to 2001, when Nikolai Kolyada, director and playwright, created a new theater troupe in Yekaterinburg. Initially, the team did not even have their own premises, their own stage set appeared only after three years. Last year, the theater received a decent premises - a former cinema.
Every year, Kolyada Theater invites spectators to 5–6 premieres and constantly participates in theater festivals. For several years, Nikolai Kolyada has been bringing his theater to Moscow, where in two weeks of tour he has shown new and old productions of Kolyada-Theater. Such tours in the capital have already become a tradition.
It is possible that after the tour began in St. Petersburg, the theatergoers of the city on the Neva will expect the new arrival of Yekaterinburg artists with the same impatience as Moscow theater fans. The first performance shown in St. Petersburg was Hamlet. In the scenic embodiment of Nicholas Kolyada, the Shakespearean play became the story of the degeneration of mankind.
