He showed himself so successfully in the late eighties that his works became the subject of debate, plays attracted the attention of famous directors, and, appearing in the repertoire of theaters, invariably gathered full halls of spectators. Such interest was caused by the content of works written by Yuri Polyakov.

In his plays, the dramatist’s critical view of the events taking place today was perfectly combined with sparkling humor, which left the audience with no room for despondency. In the 17 days allotted for the festival performances, viewers will see more than ten plays by Yuri Polyakov.

Most of them will be shown in the Modern Theater, which kindly presented its stage to the Smotrin participants who came from other cities of Russia, as well as theaters from Kazakhstan, Armenia and Hungary. The capital’s participants in the festival will present the plays of Yuri Polyakov on their stages.

The “Brides” will close at the Satire Theater with a show of the performance “Homo Erectus”, marking the anniversary - exactly ten years have passed since the day of its premiere.
