China to host Russian war movie festival Automatic translate
BEIJING. The first retrospective film festival of Soviet paintings about the Great Patriotic War will be held from August 26 to September 12, 2015 in two Chinese cities - Beijing and Suzhou. The film forum program included paintings from the unique collection of the State Film Fund of Russia. The festival, entitled “The Eternal Flame”, is dedicated to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the USSR and China over the fascist invaders of Germany and Japan.
The main program of the retrospective includes seven outstanding films that make up the golden collection of Soviet cinema. These are the paintings “Katyusha” and “Zhenya, Zhenechka” by Vladimir Motyl, “Ordinary Fascism” by Mikhail Romm, “Twenty Days Without War” by Alexei German, “Descended from Heaven” by Natalya Troshchenko, “Blockade: Leningrad Metronome” by Leonid Ershov, “Izhora Battalion”Gennady Kazan. None of these films were previously shown on the territory of the People’s Republic of China.
The Eternal Flame shows will begin in Beijing (from August 26 to 28), after which the festival will move to Suzhou (from August 30 to 31), and then return to Beijing again (from September 7 to 12). In addition, this fall it is planned to hold a festival of Chinese films about the war in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
The organizers of the Eternal Flame film festival are the Charity Fund of Elena and Gennady Timchenko, the State Film Fund of Russia and the Chinese Film Archive with the support of the Main State Administration for Press, Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in China and the Russian-Chinese Business Council.
