MOSCOW. Roman Viktyuk Theater traditionally ends the season with a parade of the best performances of its repertoire. This year, the director made a wonderful gift to the audience - the theater marathon was launched by the pre-premiere show of the play “Fedra”.

Roman Viktyuk first turned to the tragedy of loneliness composed by Marina Tsvetaeva more than thirty years ago, putting “Fedra” on “Taganka”. The main role in this legendary performance, which became the symbol of a new direction in theatrical art in the 80s, was played by a unique actress - Alla Demidova. Her partners on the stage were then very young actors - D. Pevtsov and A. Serebryakov.

Now the tragedy of Fedra, who fell in love with Hippolytus, his stepson, is again unfolding on the stage of the MTYuZ. This mythological story has been repeatedly described in world literature, but Viktyuk considers the work of Tsvetaeva closest to himself.

If in the classic versions of the myth Fedra becomes an image embodying criminal love, then Tsvetaeva justifies her heroine. Already at the beginning of the action, she says that it was impossible to not love young Hippolytus - he is so beautiful.

The director in the new "Fedra" uses his characteristic manner of staging. The tragic events of the performance take place against the background of dancing, singing, gymnastics and eroticism woven into a single whole. Now Viktyuk in the role of Fedra introduced the audience to a man - Dmitry Bozin.

The director dedicated this performance to the memory of the actresses with whom he worked - Elena Obraztsova and Olga Aroseva. In autumn, the Viktyuk Theater will meet spectators in the renovated Theater on Stromynka, where the first performance of the season will be Fedra, and now, starting from July 15, viewers will see the best works of Roman Viktyuk. The first performance of a theatrical marathon will be the famous Salome.
