VOGDA. On July 3, Vologda will host the opening of the VI International Festival of Young European Cinema VOICES (Vologda Independent Cinema from European Screens). The film forum opens with a screening of the French film "Young Blood" directed by Emmanueli Bercot.
The main event of the film forum is an international competition in which, according to the rules, only debut or second works of young beginning directors participate. The jury of the main competition included Russian film expert Naum Kleiman, French actress Nadia Fares, Russian film critic Sergei Sholokhov and Georgian film director Nana Dzhordzhadze.
As part of the short film program, 7 short stories will be presented to the audience: “Not Everything Is Lost” by Russian director Anna Lobanova, “Two Lines” by Nicholas Van Bauren (France), “Eclipse” by Ara Erinzhakyan (Armenia), “Rooster” by Alexey Nuzhny (Russia), “Insignificant details of a random episode” by Mikhail Mestetsky (Russia) “Chippendale” by Camila Safina (Russia) and the Russian novel “Unintentionally” from the “My Handwriting” almanac directed by Zhora Kryzhovnikov.
The retrospective “Our Cinema” includes 5 feature films and one documentary: “A Trip to Mother” by Mikhail Kosyrev-Nesterov, “Dear Hans, Dear Peter” by Alexander Mindadze, “Son” by Arseny Gonchukov, “Atlantis of the Russian North” by Sofia Gorlenko, “ Hero Pioneers ”by Natalia Kudryashova and“ Patients ”by Ella Omelchenko.
For the European Express program, the organizers selected 8 films representing the cinema of 11 countries. These films are: “The Price of a Man” by Paolo Virdzi (Italy-France), “The Dark Valley” by Andreas Prohaska (Austria-Germany), “Phoenix” by Christian Petzold (Germany-Poland), “Wednesday, 04:45” by Alexis Alexiu (Greece- Germany-Israel), “Michael Kolhaas” by Arnaud de Palera (France-Germany), “Reality” by Quentin Dupier (USA-Belgium-France), “Jackies in the Kingdom of Women” by Riad Sattuf (France) and “The White God” by Cornel Mundruzo )Sweden-Germany-Hungary).
Three full-length feature films are combined into the “Cinema for Peace” program: “Mr. Kaplan” directed by Alvaro Brechner (Spain-Uruguay-Germany), “Run Boy Run” Pepe Dankwart (Germany-France-Poland) and “Bird and Dates” Fariborza Camcari (Italy).
Also within the framework of the VOICES festival, screenings of films of the programs “Cinema in the Kremlin” and “Zanussi’s Carte Blanche” will be held. In addition, the audience will be presented with the already traditional “Special Screening at the Philharmonic”, which will show the first silent documentary about Paris “Paris Sketches” directed by Andre Sauvage (1928). The picture will be broadcast accompanied by music by Mana Lokole in a modern treatment by Stef Gotkowski.
The closing ceremony of the VI IFF VOICES, which will show the film by Alexei German Jr. "Under the Electric Clouds" will be held on July 6.
