KIEV. At the Second International Festival of Cinema for Children and Teenagers “Children Film Festival”, which ended on June 7 in the capital of Ukraine, the best picture was named the musical comedy “Felix” directed by Roberta Durran. The winner was determined by spectator voting.

The Felix film tells the story of a South African boy who dreamed of playing the jazz band on the saxophone, like his deceased father, and for the sake of his dream he was forced to disobey his mother’s will in order to later convince her that jazz is good.

The picture, which took second place as a result of the competition, is the Irish fairy-tale animated film “Song of the Sea”. And the third place went to the Dutch comedy "Trouble" - about how the children created a video tutorial of a happy family life for adults.

In addition to the winning films of the main competition at the closing ceremony of the Children Film Festival, laureates of the amateur film contest "Take Off Like Méliès" were also named. According to the rules, videos were submitted to the contest, representing remakes of Georges Méliès films: the main rule was the participation of children and the use of hidden editing. The favorite in this category was the short film, shot in Odessa, "The coward does not play football." She awarded the winner and also presented a collection of films by the legendary director of the Georges Méliès Show, his great-granddaughter Marie-Helene Lerissi, who was a special guest of the festival.

Recall that the International Film Art Festival for children and adolescents “Children Film Festival” in 10 days visited 14 cities of Ukraine. All screenings within the film forum were free, more than 20 thousand spectators attended the sessions.
