The choice of a place to spend an evening in memory of the legendary director is not accidental. The house bears the name of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, and Yuri Petrovich was among the close friends of Alexander Isaevich.

The evening was initiated by the Charity Fund. Yu. Lyubimova. In two years, the theater world will celebrate the centenary of the director. They began to prepare for the anniversary celebrations in advance so as not to miss something important from the master’s enormous creative range.

The organizers of the evening created his program in such a way that a peculiar short summary of events planned for the anniversary celebrations appeared before the audience. For the first time fragments of "Hamlet", shot in 1976 at the festival in Belgrade, were shown to the public. At this festival, “Taganka” received the main award, with which the world fame of the capital’s theater began. The main character of the play was Vladimir Vysotsky.

With great interest, the audience got acquainted with excerpts from the play "Demons", presented by the artists of the Vakhtangov Theater. Lyubimov worked on the production of this performance after the conflict in the theater he created, which put an end to this period of his work.

Viewers were given the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest work of Yuri Petrovich - the opera-buff "School of Wives." Lyubimov himself wrote the libretto for this production. A video of one of the scenes of the performance was shown to the guests of the evening. In the hall sounded the voice of Lyubimov himself, reading his own poems.

The musical part of the evening became songs sounded in performances staged by Yuri Petrovich at different times. They were performed by the ensemble of Dmitry Pokrovsky.
