MOSCOW. The documentary program of the International Festival of Contemporary Independent Cinema “2morrow / Tomorrow,” which will begin showing at 20:00 today at the Museum of Moscow, has included five films. The curators of the program, Cyril Sorokin and Alena Bocharova, decided to compose it from paintings about the public context and how humanities exist in it.
So, within the framework of the program, on January 21, the film “Life is Sacred” will be shown directed by Andreas Dalsgaard, Denmark. On January 22, in the Grand Cinema Hall of the Museum of Moscow, viewers will see a picture by the Latvian director Davis Simanis “Escape from Riga”. On January 23, fans of the documentary genre will be able to watch a joint film by Denmark and China directed by Andreas Johnsen, "Ai Weiwei: Fake business." American film "About Susan Sontag" directed by Nancy D. Cates will be broadcast on January 24. And the film “The Alumni Meeting” directed by Anna Odell, Sweden, will complete the documentary program.
“This year’s documentary program has a double focus. On the one hand, her characters are the irreconcilable Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, the great American thinker Susan Sontag or the former mayor of Bogotá, Antanas Mokus, known for his eccentric innovations, people without whom it is impossible to imagine a modern and not very culture. On the other hand, the films whose heroes they are come from the private to the general and, in fact, explore a more global and more urgent problem than how humanitarians, public intellectuals and artists exist in a public context, contradicting it experiencing it and putting pressure on it and, ultimately, creating some necessary balance, without which society would be completely different, ”the press release of the 2morrow / Tomorrow festival says.
Recall that the International Festival of Contemporary Independent Cinema “2morrow / Tomorrow” will be held from January 20 to 25 at two venues in the capital - the Museum of Moscow and the Documentary Film Center. All shows were organized with the support of the Department of Culture of Moscow. Over the 8 years of its existence, 2morrow / Tomorrow has established itself as the most important Moscow film screening, a festival of a new generation that responds to the impulses of modern times and does not forget about the best cinema heritage.
