NIZHNY NOVGOROD. The city’s theaters are eagerly awaiting the premiere of the play “Three Love Romances,” which is being directed by Moscow director Rodion Ovchinnikov. Before the premiere, there is not much time left - the Drama Theater. Gorky is waiting for the audience on February 5th. However, a meeting of Rodion Ovchinnikov with media representatives who want to learn about the upcoming premiere from the lips of the author of the play has already taken place.
A press conference where the director spoke about the literary basis of the play, about the principle by which the works were selected for its creation, was held on January 27th. According to the director, in each of the works on which the performance is staged, there are relations of two lonely people seeking to find their love.
The play uses one-act plays by Petrushevskaya and Zlotnikov, as well as the story “Rudolfio”, authored by Valentin Rasputin. Although they are all created in different genres - drama, farce and "fantastic realism" are combined here, however, love or the desire to find it combines them into a single whole.
Rodion Ovchinnikov spoke about the problem of loneliness in modern society. Today, young people are afraid to love, because they believe that, plunging into feelings, they lose independence, look weak. Therefore, they prefer solitude. The director also remembered authors belonging to the period of Soviet literature - Arbuzov, Shukshin, Vampilov, noting that in their books there are universal values. Demand for such literature is increasing.
The design of the play, created by scenographer Boris Shlyamin, will immerse viewers in an atmosphere of 60-70, complemented by popular music of those years. The voices of Bulat Okudzhava, Sting, Mireille Mathieu and Charles Aznavour will be heard from the stage.
